MORE HORROR ANNOUNCEMENTS
Carey and Chad Hayes, the men whom are penning the House of Wax remake, just signed a deal with Dimension Films for an untitled horror project, which wouldn’t go into production until after Amityville. Inside is the scoop, along with confirmation that a Texas Chainsaw prequel is being worked on.
Variety reports that Dimension Films has bought an untitled horror pitch by scribes Carey and Chad Hayes for genre production shingle Platinum Dunes, which has an overall deal at the studio. Project, set on a college campus, was hatched by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
The scribes are also penning a remake of ‘House of Wax’ for Warner Bros. and Joel Silver.
New project is a good fit for Platinum Dunes, which was signed last year to a Dimension deal by co-chairman Bob Weinstein after making the profitable remake ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ at New Line. The producers are now prepping a remake of ‘Amityville Horror’ as a co-production between MGM and Dimension. It will begin production in June for a January release. The trio are also working on a ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ prequel.
The Hayes script will be overseen by Dimension Films co-prexies Brad Weston and Andrew Rona, along with senior veep Dan Levine.
