ANGEL MOVIES THIS FALL?
Over on the ever-reliable Buffy.nu site, a scooper has reported in with potentially good news for fans of ‘Angel’.
Even though viewers have been trying diligently to keep the show on the air, the WB has no plans to continue on with it, and I guess it’s a good thing for some of the cast. However, this scooper reports that rumored ‘Angel’ telemovies could be coming a lot sooner than any of us had suspected.
‘The WB is working on a new stand-alone telemovie, ANGEL, to air tentatively in September. The first two-hour pic is going to essentially launch the series as a sequence of films – different villain, different storyline, each one. The first is going to tie-in with the events of the series final episode. The season ender is going to go out with a huge cliffhanger, and well have to wait till September to find out how it all ends.’
September does seem a bit quick for the first one, even if the cast gets a small break after the filming of the final episode. I’m not sure why, if the WB is so adamant to cancel the show, the idea of telemovies seems like a good one to them. The scooper said that there will be a total of six over the next year, one every two months, and supposedly Eilza Dushku will reprise her role as Faith in the first.
One other bit of interesting news, it seems series creator Joss Whedon won’t have much to do with the first few, because he’s directing a movie for Universal. No details on that were available, so who knows how valid it is.
Until there’s an official announcement this is going to be considered a rumor.
