NEW TALISMAN DIRECTOR!
Last week it was announced that Vadim Perelman had left the DreamWorks adaptation of THE TALISMAN as director due to creative differences. Today we have word, courtesy of Ain’t It Cool, of a possible replacement. They’re reporting that Ed Zwick (THE LAST SAMURAI) will be announced shortly as the replacement of Perelman for the project. The studio hoped to announce a new director shortly to get the project underway and this certainly didn’t take long. Perhaps they had Zwick in their sights even before Perelman’s departure was made formal? As part of the same article AICN also reviews the current draft of the TALISMAN script by Ehren Kruger. They didn’t have the most positive things to say about the draft but cautioned that the script could reflect Perelman’s vision of the film, which obviously rankled DreamWorks. The studio could return to Kruger’s first draft, which reportedly was a huge hit with the studio and helped get the film greenlit after a long development.
