GREF?RETURNS WITH HYBRID HORROR
Veteran Florida-based genre filmmaker William (STANLEY) Gref?as revealed to Fango that he?s making a return to fright fare with HYBRID. While not wanting to spill too many details about the movie?s plot, Gref?id tell us, ?It?s a suspense thriller/horror film, and about 80 percent of it takes place in a hospital where an alien takes over. It?s female-driven; the lead is a female doctor.?
Gref?ill produce HYBRID for director Richard Styles. The two have teamed on several previous thrillers, including the 1990 release ESCAPE (which starred all-grown-up Disney starlet Kim Richards) and the more recent SHOOTER ON THE SIDE and the Jamaica-set THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR. ?Richard and I have been very good friends,? Gref?ays, ?and we keep in touch constantly. When he comes up with something that he?s backing himself or putting all the elements together for, he calls on me to produce it. It looks like he?s going to cast Brooke Richards, Kim?s oldest daughter, in the film, plus her little girl, and Kim will probably do a cameo. It?ll be interesting to reunite with everyone, and a good vehicle to launch Brooke into the movie business.?
The rest of the casting is currently underway, and Gref?eports, ?We were going to shoot HYBRID in January, and we sent the script around to agents, and it got such great results that we had a lot of name actresses coming to see us. We were going to do the film with our own money, but when we got all those names interested, we decided to go a different route and get more financing. So right now we?re finalizing those deals. If for any reason that financing falls apart, we can still do it with our own money.? Look for more details on the project in the coming months.
