GOREZONE VIDEO LINE LAUNCHING
Hart Sharp Video has signed an agreement with Bedford Entertainment in association with FANGORIA magazine to distribute their new Fangoria Presents: GoreZone label, according to Hart Sharp president Joe Amodei. As part of the initiative, Hart Sharp will release four to six GoreZone titles into the marketplace per year. The first in the collection is THE LAST HORROR MOVIE, which will emerge on DVD and video later in 2004, following the films theatrical run. (LAST HORROR MOVIE opens June 18 at the Alamo Drafthouse) The unsettling LAST HORROR MOVIE concerns wedding videographer Max Perry (played by Kevin Howarth), who uses his camera to document a serial-killing spree.
It gives me great pleasure to work with Bedford Entertainment and FANGORIA magazine, said Amodei in a statement. I have been an avid fan of horror movies since I was a kid, and this line certainly allows you to plunge into murderous minds.
With FANGORIAs new GoreZone label, we are introducing an exciting new generation of horror filmmakers, whose fiercely independent spirit displays a thrilling and visceral approach to the genre, says Fango editor Tony Timpone, who serves as an acquisitions consultant to Bedford president Steven Mackler. Our magazine has always been the leader in horror entertainment, and with the GoreZone video/DVD label, we want to make our films the first choice for savvy fright fans when they buy and rent horror.
The label takes its name from FANGORIAs former sister publication, which Starlog Group published from 1988 to 1992. We always wanted to keep the GOREZONE magazine spirit alive somehow, and this gutsy new video offshoot will allow us to do that, Timpone says.
