GARRIS TALKS BULLET RELEASE PLANS
Mick Garris Stephen King adaptation RIDING THE BULLET will definitely join the fear-filled fall theatrical marketplace, the director tells Fango. We will be out in September, perhaps mid- to late-, in the top 10 to 15 markets in limited release, hoping to roll it out, says Garris, with the goal of following BUBBA HO-TEPs successful grassroots strategy. We may use subdistributors and put it out through [financing company] MPCA rather than going through a major, but well be out in September regardless.
Garris producers are in the process of selling BULLETs U.S. DVD/video rights as well, to a company horror fans will be most familiar with, but who we cant name just yet. While Garris locks BULLETS postproduction in Toronto, he is also busy in preproduction on his three-hour telemovie of Kings DESPERATION for ABC. The filmmaker will also host the world premiere of RIDING THE BULLET at Montreals Fantasia Film Festival Sunday, August 1; see the fest website for more details.
