GARRIS TALKS BULLET RELEASE PLANS
Mick Garris? Stephen King adaptation RIDING THE BULLET will ?definitely? join the fear-filled fall theatrical marketplace, the director tells Fango. ?We will be out in September, perhaps mid- to late-, in the top 10 to 15 markets in limited release, hoping to roll it out,? says Garris, with the goal of following BUBBA HO-TEP?s successful grassroots strategy. ?We may use subdistributors and put it out through [financing company] MPCA rather than going through a major, but we?ll be out in September regardless.?
Garris? producers are in the process of selling BULLET?s U.S. DVD/video rights as well, to a company horror fans will be most familiar with, but who we can?t name just yet. While Garris locks BULLET?S postproduction in Toronto, he is also busy in preproduction on his three-hour telemovie of King?s DESPERATION for ABC. The filmmaker will also host the world premiere of RIDING THE BULLET at Montreal?s Fantasia Film Festival Sunday, August 1; see the fest website for more details.
