FvsJ DOING REWRITES?
Moviehole reports:
A film which was set to pit Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees against Evil Dead’s ‘Ash’, might have bit the dust.
According to insider ‘FestD3’ ‘Evil Dead’ director Sam Raimi wouldn’t agree to let the character of Ash (played by Bruce Campbell) be used by New Line for the film ‘Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash’ and so it’s provisionally on the back burner while a new script is written.
Meanwhile, New Line and Robert ‘Freddy’ Englund are going to work on a new ‘Nightmare’ reality show, which should temporarily keep the hordes of Elm Street fans entertained. At the start of each episode, Englund will drop in on viewers and ask them to detail their worst nightmare. A visual effects team, led by Oscar-winning f/x artist Peter Kuran, will bring those nightmares to life via elaborate recreations. Nightmare-racked viewers will be given the chance to complete a challenge or stunt that will give them a chance to face their fears directly. ‘Freddy vs. Jason’ director Ronny Yu was reportedly interested in directing ‘Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash’, but now that it’s not happening for a while, he has jumped aboard ‘Snakes on a Plane’, another horror pic being set up at New Line.
