RETURN OF LIVING DEAD PRODUCER DIES
FANGORIA has learned that RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD producer Tom Fox died this past weekend. The former investment banker and Illinois native is best known for producing the cult classic LIVING DEAD and its first sequel, as well as the horror yarns BLUE MONKEY, DARK TOWER and actor William Butlers upcoming directorial debut MADHOUSE. Lensing began this summer in Romania on the Fox-produced RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 4 and 5. Fox first got into the horror business when he acquired John Russos initial RETURN screenplay in the early 80s. He then hired Dan (ALIEN) OBannon to rewrite and direct the 1985 film, a fan favorite.
Tom was a very intelligent, honorable and funny guy who I thoroughly enjoyed knowing and working with, Butler, who penned the latest RETURNs with Aaron Strongoni, tells Fango. He lived and breathed for getting film projects produced and was Aarons and my number-one fan and supporter. Im very happy that he finally got RETURN 4 and 5 going before he passed, as he had been fighting tooth and nail to give the fans what they wanted for a few years now. I will very much miss him as a good friend and am thankful for everything that he did for my career.
