NAKATA’S NEXT
While Hideo Nakatas RINGU is heading for a video premiere in the U.S. March 4, another of the directors thrillers will be getting big-screen exposure in America. CHAOS (KAOSU), the directors third film, has been picked up by Kino International and Tidepoint Pictures/Viz, which will give it a limited release beginning with a New York run at the Cinema Village starting March 7. CHAOS begins with the kidnapping of a businessmans wife (RINGs Miki Nakatani), with the progressively darker events that follow presented in an unconventional, non-linear narrative style. Catch it if you can before the U.S. remake (to be directed by SEXY BEASTs Jonathan Glazer, with Robert De Niro and Benicio Del Toro starring) arrives. Kino and Tidepoint/Viz will also team up to release CHAOS on video, along with a number of other Japanese films including Takashi Miikes DEAD OR ALIVE.
