ANOTHER ZOMBIE ROMANCE?
One zombie film arriving this year is not only delivering on the undead goods but touting itself as a ‘romantic comedy’ as well – that’s the much talked about Shaun of the Dead due September 24th from Focus Features’ Rogue Pictures; its mishmash of genre elements is being called a ‘romzomcom’ (romantic zombie comedy). Now another lovelorn walking corpse-ridden effort is coming our way entitled Boy Eats Girl starring The Time Machine’s Samantha Mumba. Eats is currently shooting for the next three weeks in Dublin before moving on to the Isle of Man. Stephen Bradley directs from a script penned by David Leon. The budget is reportedly in the $5 million range.
David Leon stars as 17-year-old Nathan, a student who finally scores a date with this chick he wants. While ‘play acting’ with a noose he accidentally hangs himself. In a stroke of something similar to Bob Clark’s Deathdream, it’s Nathan’s mother who brings him back from the dead and when she does her son unknowingly spreads an infection that begins to zombify his fellow school chums.
Odyssey Entertainment Ltd. is handling international distribution; whether Boy Eats Girl lands in the States as a theatrical or direct-to-vid release is unknown at the moment. The film’s official website has opened, however, and there you’ll find headshots of the cast and crew, a lengthy plot synopsis, and other updates.
Also, over at Showbiz Ireland’s site you’ll find stills of the cast on the set of the film.
