CRAVEN GETS RED EYE
Creature Corner reports:
‘Perhaps it was the soul-draining experience he had working on Dimension’s Cursed that made him want to distance himself from horror (again), but Wes Craven is lining up his next film and there’s neither a lycanthrope nor a slasher in sight.
The Hollywood Reporter says today that Craven is set to direct Red Eye for Dreamworks. More of a suspense thriller than anything, the plot focuses on a woman who is ‘held captive by a stranger on an airliner who threatens to kill her father unless she helps him arrange the assassination of a wealthy businessman.’
Does anyone, besides me, think this sounds a bit like Johnny Depp’s Nick of Time? In that film the life of Depp’s daughter was hanging in the balance if he didn’t off a certain politician.
Carl Ellsworth penned Red Eye; he’s responsible for one of my favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes, ‘Halloween,’ which aired in the second season.
Craven’s film will be produced by Benderspink, Bonnie Curtis, Jim Lemley and Marianne Maddalena.’
