STRANGER CALLS REMAKE
Variety reports that Screen Gems is developing remakes of both the 1979 babysitter-stalker fave WHEN A STRANGER CALLS and its made-for-cable sequel, WHEN A STRANGER CALLS BACK. The original ‘the calls are coming from inside the house’ chiller was directed by Fred Walton and starred Carol Kane and Charles Durning, and all three returned for the follow-up, joined by Jill (THE STEPFATHER) Schoelen. The first CALLS redux is being scripted by Jake Wadewall, who has also sold a horror screenplay called NEXT DOOR to New Line and is working on the latest HALLOWEEN installment for Dimension. The CALLS BACK redux is only in treatment form at the moment.
