SONG OF THE DEAD FEATURE
SONG OF THE DEAD, the zombie-musical-comedy short film included on Fangos recently released BLOOD DRIVE DVD, is now becoming a feature film. Bob Swope, who produced the short and will encore on the expanded version, gave Fango some details on the project, which Chip Gubera returns to direct. Its a zombie rock musical, and involves a lot of familiar themes, Swope tells us. It has to do with a botched plan to thwart the 1,000-year mosquito awakening, and a familys struggle to survive what is thought to be a terrorist attack but is really the dead coming back to life. Its got 15 original songs and will be shot on high-definition video.
The short movie represents about three and a half pages of the feature script; its the first time we see a zombie transformation, Swope explains. Well be shooting in Columbia, MO from September 3 through to the end of the month. Its cast with local actors, but were seeking an older name rock star to play the Presidentsomeone with a rock n roll background. We tried to get Bruce Campbell, whos solidly bookedI cant imagine a better President!David Lee Roth, Alice Cooper, Rick Springfield, and even Rob Zombie, and were still looking. The movie is going to have a lot of energy and combine many familiar styles, and hopefully it will be a Fango crowd-pleaser!
