BRITISH HORROR REMAKES COMING
Variety reports that Dennis Bartok, screenwriter and head of programming at LAs American Cinematheque, and genre scholar/producer Steven Schneider have formed Five Windows Productions to develop remakes in the horror, fantasy and crime genres. Among the fright films they plan to update are a pair of British chillers: Peter Newbrooks THE ASPHYX (1972), about a scientist obsessed with trapping the spirit of death, and Piers Haggards BLOOD ON SATANS CLAW (1971), in which rural children become devil worshippers. Bartok was recently working on a U.S. remake of Kiyoshi Kurosawas CURE, while Schneider, author of FAB Press FEAR WITHOUT FRONTIERS, is a producer on Gold Circle Films upcoming FAMILY PORTRAIT, scripted by J.T. (SOFT FOR DIGGING) Petty from the Graham Masterton novel.
