MIKE GARRIS’ DESPERATION LANDS CAST
Fango pal Mick Garris wrote in with an update on his latest Stephen King adaptation DESPERATION, which he will direct as a three-hour movie for ABC. ‘Just wanted you to be the first to know about the DESPERATION casting situation,’ Garris tells Fango. ‘We start shooting here on Sunday, Halloween, appropriately enough.’
And what a cast Garris has lined up for the project! Ron (HELLBOY) Perlman has been set to play Collie Entragian, the possessed lawman who emerged as one of Kings most fearsome and loathsome villains ever in the original novel. This is a primo villainous role that Perlman can hit out of the ballpark. In addition, Steven Weber, from Garris THE SHINING remake, is Steve, Annabeth (THE X FILES) Gish takes the female lead as Mary, Cliff (Garris RIDING THE BULLET) Robertson is Tom the veterinarian and Shane (THE O.C.) Habousch stars as young David, the ‘special kid’ who turns up in Kings THE REGULATORS as well. Matt Frewer, another BULLET vet and Garris regular (QUICKSILVER HIGHWAY, THE STAND) is on board as Ralph. ‘Its turning into a pretty spectacular cast,’ the director says. Damn straight.
