PHOENIX & FRANCHISE’S GENRE DIVISION
Variety reports that Phoenix Pictures and Franchise Pictures are in talks to co-produce a group of six to 10 horror films, each budgeted at $15 million or under, over an 18-month period. Phoenix, which scored with URBAN LEGEND, has been interested in establishing a genre division for a couple of years now, having announced in 2001 that they would launch such a label with POTTERS FIELD, about teens in a scared straight program battling alongside prisoners against a deadly spirit. However, no titles have been officially announced for the Phoenix/Franchise venture; the two companies are currently in talks with a U.S. distribution partner.
