PROM NIGHT REMAKE MAKES PROGRESS
After the success of The Grudge, screenwriter Stephen Susco is now busy with several projects namely Ghost House Pictures’ inevitable Grudge 2. But the scribe is also at work on Forge of God for Warner Bros., Adrift for Dimension and the long talked about remake of the 1980 Jamie Lee Curtis-starring slasher flick Prom Night.
Susco couldn’t divulge many details on his take on the redux but a script has been completed and turned in to Columbia. ‘I can tell you that our version is more ‘supernatural’ than the original… And much scarier, in my opinion,’ he tells us with a smile. Prom Night is close to locking a director with an announcement being made soon.
The original, which also starred Leslie Nielsen and was directed by Paul Lynch, told the story of a bunch ‘o high school students – implicated in the accidental death of a childhood pal – being picked off by a killer on the biggest night of their lives.
