Poe Tale Coming to the Screen
Variety reports that Fortress Entertainment has picked up the film rights to Stephen Marlowes novel THE LIGHTHOUSE AT THE END OF THE WORLD, a thriller based on the real-life disappearance of Edgar Allan Poe. In 1849, the horror master was found dying in a gutter in Baltimore, having been missing for a week; the book imagines what happened to him during that time, spinning a hallucinatory tale involving, among other things, the great authors doppelganger. The movie, which was once developed with David Lynch on board as executive producer and Christopher DeVore (who co-wrote Lynchs THE ELEPHANT MAN) scripting, will now be written by Merritt Johnson (also currently penning LOVELACE, a biopic of the porn star, wholl be played by Courtney Love). Jonathan Sanger, another ELEPHANT MAN veteran, will produce.
