The Thing on the Doorstep Wraps
Seattle-based Maelstron Productions has announced that it has complete principal photography on its feature adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft tale The Thing on the Doorstep. Directed by Eric Morgret from a script by K.L. Young, the film, according to Morgret, ‘is a dark tale centered around Dan Upton, a Miskatonic University professor of primitive religions [J.D. Lloyd], his teaching assistant Edward Derby [Erick Robertson], and his mysterious new student, Asenath Waite [Angela Grillo]. The feature production is a tale of wizards, shallow graves and magic of the blackest kind around a campus whose halls have echoed for many years with the footsteps of some of societys most vile trespassers.
The movie, whose full title is STRANGE AEONS: THE THING ON THE DOORSTEP, was lensed on locations ranging from a mansion owned by game creator/Wizards of the Coast veteran Jesper Myrfors to the cemetery seen in the opening credits of SIX FEET UNDER. Maelstrom previously adapted THING as a short film, currently available at the site linked above on DVD, with filmmakers commentary, a blooper reel, the trailer and a short spoof called THE LOVE CRAFT. The THING feature will be ready for release this fall, and Morgret and Young are planning more HPL flicks under the STRANGE AEONS banner.
