Green Comments on Cabin Fever 2 Rumors
A while back a story was run on Fangorias site about the status of Cabin Fever 2 from the perspective of Hatchet writer/director Adam Green, who had turned in a draft of the script to Lions Gate a while back.
Fango was told information on set that was then put online that essentially said Eli Roths relationship with Lions Gate had been hurt because they didnt want to make his (Roths) version of the sequel. Shortly after that, Roth came out online to say that his relationship with the studio was as strong as ever and had no idea where the negativity came from.
During Dread Central’s usual browsing to check for more horror news, they found that the Hatchet official site had been updated with a statement from Green on this very subject not long after it appeared on Fangos site. Heres a snippet…
‘I speculated on some theories as to why there has not been an update on the project since I turned my draft in last Fall and did not realize that my comments would be posted on line and taken so literally or seriously. I have no personal knowledge as to what exactly is going on with the project and my theories are based on the same rumors that have been circulating the internet and industry for the past year…I can’t thank Eli Roth enough for his comedic rebuttal towards the story and would have expected nothing less from him.’
So was Fango just trying to stir up trouble and get rumors flying, or was all this one great big misunderstanding? Perhaps well never know, but the fact is both sides have now made their positions clear and hopefully things will move along on LGFs side so we can see a Cabin Fever sequel in our lifetimes.
