Whannell Talks More Saw
Believe it or not, the site known as Suicide Girls has a unique and very talented staff of writers who often land solid interviews with a lot of Hollywood’s up and comers. Case in point: scribe Daniel Robert Epstein recently sat down with Saw/Saw 2 scribe Leigh Whannell to reflect on the experience of making last fall’s hit, the upcoming special edition DVD and the inevitable sequel now lensing in Toronto.
Directed by music video vet Darren Bousman, Saw 2, as Whannell explains, will throw heavy focus on Jigsaw. ‘We are really exploring the story of Jigsaw [Tobin Bell] so it’s really his story. We all know that he is slowly dying of cancer so ‘Saw 2′ will have to be his final hurrah. I just got back from Toronto where they are shooting. They are all such good actors so seeing Donnie Wahlberg and Tobin Bell going at it is a thrill.’
As for the amount of blood shed in the film, ‘The gore level follows the number one rule of sequels as laid down in ‘Scream 2,’ bigger, better and more. It is so violent and it makes ‘Saw’ look like a chin stroking psychological thriller with no scenes of blood or gore.’
For the full interview, I suggest you click right here. There’s some talk of a Saw 3 in there as well, but don’t start doing a happy jig just yet.
