PHILADELPHIA FILM FESTIVAL
The annual Philadephia Film Festival has been an increasingly exciting event for genre fans (Fango first caught GINGER SNAPS and HAPPINESS OF THE KATAKURIS there, among other titles), and this years fest, running April 3-17, promises to be the best yet in terms of fright fare. Among the movies running in the Danger After Dark series are the world premieres of Robert Parigis psychosexual chiller LOVE OBJECT and J.T. (SOFT FOR DIGGING) Pettys MIMIC: SENTINEL, and the North American premieres of Brian Yuznas BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR, Jorge Alguins ETERNAL BLOOD (a.k.a. SANGRE ETERNA, to hit video on the Fango label this June), Ryuhei (VERSUS) Kitamuras supernatural samurai film ARAGAMI, Takashi Miikes true-crime/gangster film GRAVEYARD OF HONOR and Paco Plazas Ramsey Campbell adaptation SECOND NAME. Also on the bill are Hideo Nakatas DARK WATER, the Pang Brothers THE EYE, the Spanish docudrama ARO TOLBUKHIN: IN THE MIND OF A KILLER, co-directed by Agust(IN A GLASS CAGE) Villaronga, and SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE, a brutal thriller from the South Korean makers of JSA: JOINT SECURITY AREA.
