Miike & Malone the Last Masters
Showtime’s MASTERS OF HORROR series, currently shooting in Vancouver, has nabbed its last two directors. Helming segments will be cinematic terrorist Takashi Miike (pictured above right, on the set of DEADLY OUTLAW REKKA) and William (HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL) Malone. All of the slots are now filled, says MASTERS creator Mick Garris, who just wrapped his segment, CHOCOLATE. Miike is doing his in Japan. George Romeros will be the last one shot. Malone, who also directed FEARDOTCOM and memorable episodes of TALES FROM THE CRYPT and PERVERSIONS OF SCIENCE, has written and will shoot a new feature film called WHISPERING GLADES later this year as well.
Meanwhile, PHANTASM creator Don Coscarelli and actor Angus Scrimm returned to LA after getting their INCIDENT ON AND OFF A MOUNTAIN ROAD in the can. Its going to be pretty good, but I dont think Ive ever worked as hard on a film as this one, Coscarelli tells Fango. On a side note, Ryan Nicholson, Canadian FX artist turned director of the new movie LIVE FEED, tells Fango, A film company inquired about shooting in the creepy theater where we shot LIVE FEED after reading about it on the Fango website [see item here]. Guess who it was? Showtimes MASTERS OF HORROR for the episode John Carpenter is directing! Talk about setting a trend, eh? Watch for tons of MASTERS coverage this fall in the pages of FANGORIA and at our East Coast Weekend of Horrors convention, September 24-25.
