If there was anyone we would have thought would be happy with the title change of what was once known as Snakes on a Plane to (yawn) Pacific Air Flight 121, it would be the stars. I mean, how many big-name actors want to be associated with a movie called Snakes on a Plane?
At least one. Samuel L. Jackson was recently talking to the press about his latest movie, The Man, and when asked about Pacific Air Flight 121, he was vehement about taking the title back, “We’re totally changing that back. That’s the only reason I took the job: I read the title…You either want to see that, or you don’t.”
That’s definitely some good news, but how much power over the film title does a star have? I guess we’ll find out as the movie, which they’re in the midst of shooting now for New Line, comes closer to completion. Damn I hope he wins. Pacific Air Flight 121? What the hell does that title tell you about the film within? Nothing! Snakes on a Plane? Now you know what you’re getting!
