“A Viking era romantic horror film in the vein of Lord of the Rings…”
Now there’s a phrase you rarely ever hear. But that is how Blood of Beasts, an upcoming direct-to-video retelling of the classic tale of Beauty & The Beast, is being described.
In Blood of Beasts Jane March (Remember her? She was the hot babe in The Lover and Color of Night who was constantly getting naked and having explicit sex. I bet you remember her now. We’ll just try to ignore that Casper Van Dien Tarzan flick she also starred in.) plays Freya, a beautiful Viking princess whose father and fiancé are captured and imprisoned by a hulking monster – a man with the body of a beast – on a remote island. When Freya attempts to rescue them, she too is captured, only to become the beast’s object of affection. The beast struggles to control its monstrous rage while battling Freya for her affection and his redemption.
Just a warning: The movie is PG-13 so you can pretty much rule out any explicit sex/nudity from Miss March. Don’t expect another Meridian: Kiss of the Beast.
In addition to Jane March, Blood of Beasts also stars David Dukas, William Gregory Lee, and Justin Whalin, who really should have been banned from ever again appearing in another fantasy film after being so thoroughly miscast as the lead in Dungeons & Dragons: The Movie.
Sony unleashes Blood of Beasts to DVD on October 18th.
