Genre favorite Jeffrey Combs checked in with Fango and alerted us to a number of new projects he has in the hopper, which may include more stints in a lab coat as Dr. Herbert West. “[Producer/director] Brian Yuzna and I are talking quite a bit about further RE-ANIMATOR sequels,” Combs tells Fango. “His notion is that we gear up and do three RE-ANIMATOR films in a short period, instead of just one film at a time with big stretches in between. Good idea I think, but we’ll have to see what the market/investment reaction will be. [Original director] Stuart Gordon might be involved as well for the first film of the three. We’ll see what AFM brings,” adds Combs of the November movie bazaar in Santa Monica, where Yuzna and co. will gauge investor interest.
The busy actor also put in an extra day on Ryan Schifrin’s ABOMINABLE last month. “I just finished shooting an additional scene for ABOMINABLE,” Combs elaborates. “I did a cameo in this film a little over a year ago. I guess they felt they needed extra footage, so they asked me to flesh out my role a bit. The new scene is great: Lance Henriksen, Rex Linn and myself sitting around a campfire telling tales while Sasquatch creeps around in the bushes. It was great to work with Lance again. If you remember, Lance and I were inducted into the FANGORIA Hall of Fame in the same year.” The two terror thespians previously shared screen time in Gordon’s THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM remake in 1991.
Unfortunately, Combs, who contributed another guest part in the indie chiller DEMON BOARD (alongside Angus Scrimm; watch this site for more details soon), won’t be turning up in Gordon’s MASTERS OF HORROR installment DREAMS IN THE WITCH-HOUSE, though his participation had been previously announced. “There was a moment in time when I was doing it,” he says, “but ultimately my schedule got crazy and I sadly had to give up being part of the project. I’m pleased for Stuart that the show looks good.”
