Filmmakers Bernadine Santistevan and Laura Blum gave Fango the scoop about THE CRY, their new fright feature that premieres at the 13th annual Hamptons International Film Festival on Friday, October 21 at 4:30 p.m. at the Southampton United Artists theater. The film, which Santistevan produced with Blum and also co-wrote and directed, is based on the ancient Latin American legend of “La Llorona,” a spectral woman who appears by night, weeping for her dead children. It takes place in the present day, when the vengeance-seeking ghost haunts New York City; Adriana Dominguez stars as a young mother who falls under La Llorona’s spell, with Christian Camargo and Carlos (WISHMASTER 2) Leon as detectives and Miriam (SCARFACE) Colon as a curandera (Mexican witch) opposing her. Kate Blumberg (pictured) also stars; the movie will have a second showing at the Hamptons fest Saturday, October 22 at 10 p.m., and you can click on the link above for more information and tickets. Check out THE CRY’s official website for a trailer and information about the La Llorona legend.
