Producer Sean-Michael Argo got in touch with Fango to them know about a supernatural chiller he’s currently shooting in Arkansas called WINTER WOOD. “It’s the story of two grad students who travel to a rural town in search of information about an Ozark folk myth concerning a man called the Sin Eater,” Argo tells us. “Eventually, they are able to find a local guide to help them and begin their journey through Winter Wood. As the sun sets, their academic adventure becomes a fight for survival as the myth of the Sin Eater becomes an all-too-real tale of violence and backwoods terror.
“The film is being directed by James Cotten, of the Roger Corman film DEMON SLAYER, who wrote the screenplay with Jason White of SCARECROW,” Argo continues. “Our antagonist, Eli the Sin Eater, is being played by Joshua Payne [pictured], a singer/songwriter who just released his first album, Your Love, My Home. Most of the rest of the cast are Arkansas locals, many of whom were in the recent Billy Bob Thorton film CHRYSTAL and the Joey Lauren Adams film COME EARLY MORNING.” WINTER WOOD is the first fright feature to shoot in the state in recent memory, and Argo says, “DELIVERANCE ruined tourism in Arkansas for a time; maybe we can too!” Look for more details on this film soon.
