Fever Dreams has announced that its two new genre features, SHADOW: DEAD RIOT and DEATH TRANCE, have both been officially selected to screen at the 24th Brussels International Festival of Fantastic Film, running Friday, March 10-Saturday, March 25 in Belgium. In addition, both movies are slated for North American theatrical release in early 2006 through Media Blasters, which has set a March 28 DVD street date for SHADOW on its Shriek Show label. There will be two discs released: a single-disc, R-rated Special Edition and an uncut, two-disc Collector’s Edition. Supplements will be announced soon.
SHADOW, directed by Derek Wan from a screenplay by Fango’s Michael Gingold, stars Tony Todd as an executed occultist/serial killer whose spirit rises 20 years later at the prison (now a women’s penitentiary) where he was put to death, and raises a horde of zombies that the female inmates must battle to the death. DEATH TRANCE, a co-production with the Media Suits company of Japan, where the film was shot, is a bloody samurai action/fantasy directed by Yuji Shimomura (the action choreographer of VERSUS and others), starring Tak Sakaguchi from VERSUS and GODZILLA: FINAL WARS. You can see SHADOW’s official website here and DEATH TRANCE’s site here.
In addition, Media Blasters is entering the horror-music DVD scene with its upcoming release of BUCKETHEAD’S SECRET RECIPE. The two-disc Shriek Show release will showcase the madness of guitarist Buckethead, who scored the company’s FLESH FOR THE BEAST and also contributed music to SAW II and Tobe Hooper’s DANCE OF THE DAMNED episode of MASTERS OF HORROR. More details on this one as they become available.
