Fango first made mention of FREEBORN, a werewolf movie that filmmaker Anthony Brownrigg is putting together with a great deal of fan input. That project is still ongoing; in the meantime, however, Brownrigg has been shooting RED VICTORIA, another genre feature on which he serves as writer/producer/director as well as star. “It really started just as a little slasher to get out to distributors quick,” Brownrigg tells Fango. “But it has grown into something a little more extensive over the last month and a half. It’s now a comedy/thriller with horror as the main theme.”
The movie’s official website offers the following synopsis: “Jim is a writer. He’s been down on his luck lately as his emotional drama screenplays have not been selling. His agent convinces him, against Jim’s better judgement, to write horror. Reluctantly, Jim begins to write and, one night while drinking and reciting MACBETH at midnight, unknowingly releases a muse to help him…an undead entity named Victoria. With the voracity of Jason and Freddy Krueger, and the class of Audrey Hepburn, Victoria begins to teach Jim about horror. But Jim is in for a surprise when he finds that her methods of teaching involve killing all those around him. Jim must now finish a horror script to Victoria’s approval before all his friends and family are slaughtered.”
The cast also includes Arianne Martin, Edward Landers, Jesse Clinton, Mary Ann McCarty, Christian Taylor and Cory Turner, the latter of whom directed Brownrigg in the worm-monster movie THEY FEED. Check out the RED VICTORIA site for an opening scene clip and featurette.
