Writer/director Alan Rowe (I’LL BURY YOU TOMORROW) Kelly gave Fango the scoop on a new horror anthology feature he’s contributing to. Tentatively titled HUNG BY A THREAD, it’ll showcase segments directed by Kelly, Tyler Tharpe (whose movies include FREAK and the recently completed RETURN IN RED) and Michael Todd Schneider (writer of AUGUST UNDERGROUND’S MORDUM and scripter/director of the upcoming OPENING THE MIND). “This has been a whirlwind idea that has suddenly picked up speed,” Kelly tells Fango. “Michael Schneider and Tyler Tharpe presented me the anthology idea, and I just ran with it!”
Kelly’s segment, titled THE BLOOD SHED, will be the first to shoot (in March). The director himself will star and TOMORROW’s Zoë Daelman Chlanda, Jerry Murdock and Sandra Schaller have roles; also in the cast are Brian Juergens, Joshua (STRANGE THINGS HAPPEN AT SUNDOWN) Nelson, Mike (THE TENEMENT) Lane, Mingle Mangle’s Susan Adriensen and FLESH FOR THE BEAST director Terry West (as “Papa Elvis”). Tharpe’s CRACK—THEN SPLIT episode will roll around the same time, and Schneider will begin work on his segment once he’s done with his assistant director duties on THE SCREENING, the directorial debut of G. Cameron Romero. “So much indie talent is connected to the entire project,” Kelly raves. “I’m excited, overwhelmed and slightly terrified—and it’s that ‘backed into a corner’ terror that feeds me so well and gets me to do extraordinary things!”
HUNG BY A THREAD’s wraparound story will be shot in late summer 2006. Keep your eyes here for further updates.
