LESLIE CHEUNG PASSES AWAY
According to BBC News, local news sources reported that Hong Kong actor Leslie Cheung died on Tuesday after jumping from a room at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. (Police refused to release the deceaseds full name, but did confirm that a man named Cheung had made the leap, and that a suicide note was found at the scene.) Originally a singer in the 1980s, Cheung first came to screen prominence in John Woos action classic A BETTER TOMORROW, and then starred in a string of popular supernatural films including Ching Siu-Tungs A CHINESE GHOST STORY and A CHINESE GHOST STORY II, Ronny Yus BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR films and THE PHANTOM LOVER (pictured) and Cheung’s last movie, 2002s INNER SENSES. He also appeared in such highly regarded dramatic features as Chen Kaiges FAREWELL MY CONCUBINE and Wong Kar-Wais HAPPY TOGETHER and DAYS OF BEING WILD.
