Actress Kelly Stables has joined the cast for Melee Entertainment’s FURNACE, to be directed by genre vet William (MADHOUSE) Butler. Stables is best-known for her work as the evil Samara in both THE RING and its sequel. “I’ve known Kelly for a few years now,” Butler tells Fango. “I first met her when she was working as an assistant for an editor friend of mine before she got her break, so it’s all the more wonderful that she is going to be in my latest project. Aside from being a complete hottie, Kelly is also a very funny girl and a great actress with a hilarious disposition. She will most definitely fit in with the rest of my insane cast and crew, most of whom I have known for many years. I have said it a thousand times, but I am truly the luckiest horror geek in the world.”
In the new film, Stables will play the role of Karen Bolding, a CSI investigator who finds herself stricken with the titular furnace’s vengeful curse. She joins genre fave Kane Hodder, in addition to fellow cellmates Michael (BLOODRAYNE) Paré, newcomer Taylor Kinney and Tom (THE RELIC) Sizemore for the horror yarn, currently in preproduction in Nashville, Tennessee.
FURNACE concerns a tortured police detective who becomes obsessed with solving the mystery behind several horrible suicides at the dilapidated Blackgate Penitentiary…only to find that the suicides are actually brutal murders by the hand of a hateful and violent ghost. Stables will appear at the next FANGORIA’s Weekend of Horrors convention, presented by Anchor Bay Entertainment, to be held in Chicago, IL, March 4-5. Butler will host a FURNACE panel at the West Coast Weekend as well, set for June 2-4 at the Burbank Airport Hilton and Towers. Go to www.creationent.com for more details.
