Variety reports that MGM, which got swallowed up by Sony Pictures last year, is back in the distribution business, with a slate of films from assorted providers in its pipeline. One of them will be Bauer Martinez’s FRAGILE, the supernatural thriller starring Calista Flockhart and directed by DARKNESS’ Jaume Balagueró, which got shifted from a July 21 date to August 4. MGM will also be handling the release of YOUNG HANNIBAL for the Weinstein Co., with an unspecified debut sometime in 2006.
Not on the slate, sadly, is Lucky McKee’s THE WOODS; it was reported a little while back that the studio had been showing around the United Artists production to other potential distributors, to no avail.
