PHILIP YORDAN PASSES AWAY
Variety has reported the death of veteran filmmaker Philip Yordan, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer March 24 at the age of 88. An Oscar-winner for co-writing 1954s BROKEN LANCE and a prolific scriptwriter, he was also a busy producer who defied the Hollywood blacklist by hiring and fronting for banned writers. His genre credits include the fear favorites DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS and HORROR EXPRESS, along with more recent features like THE UNHOLY and NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR.
