HEADLESS HORSEMAN RIDES AGAIN
Director Alex Erkiletian will follow up his debut effort LEGEND OF THE PHANTOM RIDER (recently released by MTI Home Video) with THE HOLLOW, a modern-day Sleepy Hollow story written by the superhot Hans (SAINT SINNER) Rodionoff, who has also worked on the upcoming TORTURED SOULS, WEREWOLF BY NIGHT and MAN THING projects (and previously collaborated with Erkiletian on the low-budget SUCKER: THE VAMPIRE). THE HOLLOW is being produced by Dan Levin, Platform Entertainment and Seed Productions, with creature and severed head FX provided by Gabe Bartalos (soon to begin work on Fangoria Films SICK IN THE HEAD).
The movie is about Ian Cranston, the great-great-grandson of Ichabod Crane, who returns to Sleepy Hollow unaware of his significant lineage, Erkiletian tells Fango on the way to scout a mental asylum location for the film. Ians return stirs the vengeful spirit of the Headless Horseman, and a slaughter ensues. Ian, the newcomer, must save his town by confronting the Horseman and settling an old score.
Hans has written a script that is both contemporary and incredibly faithful to the original Legend of Sleepy Hollow story, adds Erkiletian, who expects to begin shooting THE HOLLOW in May. He and I both felt that while Tim Burtons SLEEPY HOLLOW is a masterful film, it was more of a murder mystery than a scary ghost story. Our goal is to put the fright back into the tale and make a straight-up horror movie.
