Director Nigel Hartwell of New Blood Entertainment, creator of the 2004 Asylum slasher release INSIGHT OF EVIL, alerted Fango to a group of new movies he has on the way. Among them is the sequel INSIGHT OF EVIL 2, in which original heroine Tanya (Tiffany Edwardson) returns to the scene of the original film’s murders in order to cure herself of recurring nightmares about the crimes. Anthony Cortese also returns to co-star, and New Blood plans to distribute the film itself on DVD in October. Extras will include filmmaker commentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette, a music video and trailers.
Also due in October, possibly through another distributor, is THE EXPEDITION, a “reality horror” movie in the BLAIR WITCH mode. This one is based on supposedly true events that occurred on Halloween night 2004, when five Canadian filmmakers entered the abandoned Saratoga Homestead Asylum to investigate reports of supernatural events there, and only four came out alive. THE EXPEDITION combines the actual footage that resulted with reenactments, and the eventual DVD will come with filmmaker commentary, a Behind the Walls documentary, hidden features and trailers.
Coming in 2007 is New Blood’s entry in the zombie genre, DEAD BY DAWN, currently in the development/financing stage. This one is set in an isolated town where a meteor crash brings a plague to Earth that turns the dead into those ever-popular bloodthirsty ghouls.
