Mike Mendez, whos latest horror film The Gravedancers just premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York. This past weekend B-D had the distinct pleasure of speaking one-on-one to Mike about his film, along with his future projects. The film is about three friends who desecrate the graves of three very unforgiving ghosts…
Mike Mendez’s THE GRAVEDANCERS just rocked audiences out of their seats at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in NY, and although there’s pics and trailer the feel of the film is yet to be known. While filling us in on the details, Mendez let go that his next pic will be a “ balls-to-the-wall gore movie”
In addition, Mendez tells us about a few other projects in the works, “ I got a couple of irons in the fire, we’ll see what comes to fruition first. I’m working with a writer, Evan Katz on a really cool film called 100 DEMONS, which is an action horror film. And there is also a project that has not been announced yet, that I will be working with a “Master” of Horror, in my book, THE “Master” of Horror. But hopefully that will get announced at Cannes. It’s insanely cool.”
Speaking of Masters of Horror, when will this indie master get his day? Mendez jokes, “ They continue to dangle that carrot in front of me, but they have yet to commit to doing it. I’d like to.”
Lastly, one of my favorite indie horror films of all time KILLERS (aka REAL KILLERS) has yet to receive a treatment it deserves. Today Mendez teases possibly some massive news, “I hope so- I’m working on trying to get the rights back,” Mendez tells B-D.” At the very least I hope to have a Director’s Cut available, even it’s only available on my forthcoming website mikemendez.com.”
