According to The Hollywood Reporter, genre specialist Gold Circle Films (SLiTHER, WHITE NOISE) has picked up a fright script called ANVIL from writer Adam Sussman. Spanish director Daniel Calparsoro has been signed to helm the picture for producers Peter Safran and Paul Brooks, with shooting planned to take place before the end of 2006. ANVIL is about a group of friends on a road trip through Kansas who wind up in a small town where the residents are strange and one of the travelers finds out that she has a supernatural connection to the place. Sussman also scripted THE RETURN, the paranormal chiller starring Sarah Michelle Gellar that Rogue Pictures releases this fall; Calparsoro’s most recent film is AUSENTES, about a family that moves into a gated community where strange things happen, starring Ariadna (PAN’S LABYRINTH) Gil and Jordi (NADIE CONOCE A NADIE) Mollà.
