When the nominees for the 58th annual Emmy Awards were announced last week, Showtime/IDT Entertainment’s MASTERS OF HORROR series was cited twice in the music categories. Edward Shearmur’s creepy opening composition is nominated for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music, while Richard Band’s score for longtime collaborator Stuart Gordon’s DREAMS IN THE WITCH-HOUSE episode is up for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series. Surprisingly, MASTERS was absent from the Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup lineup (populated entirely by non-genre fare) but the Sci Fi Channel’s MAMMOTH somehow got a nod for Outstanding Special Visual Effects! Elsewhere on the list, the ABC Mick Garris/Stephen King telemovie DESPERATION has been nommed for Outstanding Art Direction and Outstanding Sound Editing.
