Good news, The Abandoned, has the potential to be one of the best films released next year. Fangoria got word that the film will have its premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Midnight Madness section. Abandoned joins Trapped Ashes, Black Sheep, Severance, The Host and J.T. Petty’s S&Man on the bill.
Abandoned was written by Subconscious Cruelty director Karim Hussain and Dust Devil helmer Richard Stanley. The tale is that of a woman who goes back to her family home in Russia to finally get some answers to life-long questions, only to meet a man who claims to be her brother and to be haunted by doppelgangers who depict how the duo is going to die.

Oddly enough, the film will additionally play in competition at Sitges, where it will go up against (among other films), Hussain’s return to directing, The Beautiful Beast.
