U.K. broadcaster ITV and Australia’s Network Ten are turning the story of the 2001 murder of a British backpacker in the Aussie outback into a $5 million telepic starring Bryan Brown, according to Variety. The case earlier inspired horror pic “Wolf Creek.” To Catch a Killer is produced by Matt Carroll (“Farscape”) and Spencer Campbell (“Cold Feet”), with extra coin from Australia’s Film Finance Corp. Filming began this week; made-for will air on Ten and ITV next year. Though Peter Falconio’s body was never found, mechanic Bradley John Murdoch was convicted of his murder last year.
