A week away from heading to Tennessee, where she’ll be stepping before the cameras for the ghost story SHUDDER, gore kitten Tiffany Shepis gave Fango the scoop on DARK REEL, a project she’s expected to star in this October. Once entitled STARLET, the project is being produced by David Forlane and helmed by newcomer Josh Eisenstaet, who has surrounded himself with quite the eclectic cast. “He’s got this weird David Lynch way about him,” says Shepis. (And she’s right; on a weekend trip up to Eisenstaet’s home, Fango found his love for the Lynch extended to displaying the director’s choice one-sheets around his posh abode.) “He’s such a fan that he’s gotten a lot of the original cast members of TWIN PEAKS to come on board.” Details regarding whom are not being revealed, but Shepis does divulge that she’ll be co-starring alongside Lance Henriksen; the two both appeared in ABOMINABLE, though they didn’t share any screen time together.
“I play Casey Blue, a scream queen who is at the peak of her popularity,” Shepis explains. “She’s a huge collector of ’50s memorabilia and may or may not be connected to the 1958 murder of a little-known actress named Scarlet May. Adam, a horror-obsessed fanboy, wins a contest for a walk-on role in Casey’s new horror epic THE PIRATE WENCH. When that happens, all hell breaks loose; murders on the set and hauntings in real life start to resemble the mystery of the Scarlet May murder.”
Rena Riffel, who had a small turn in Lynch’s MULHOLLAND DR., will also star as “La Rue,” with more cast members to be announced. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles—a welcome change for Shepis, who, in the last two months, has been bouncing around the States for various productions and will soon jet to Italy for the religious chiller NYMPHA.
