As was previously mentioned when the release date was moved from October to December, Variety got the official word that Guillermo Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth will represent Mexico in this years foreign-language Oscar bid.
When Picturehouse announced that Labyrinth was moving out of it’s obvious October release and into December it was seen by some a as a bad sign, but those smart guys out there in intenetland knew it was done to keep it closer to the Oscars. Now, with it’s limited release on December 29th in the states, followed by a 35-market run beginning January 12th, all eyes will be on the fantasy/horror epic.
Picturehouse also confirmed that, while Labyrinth is going for Best Foreign Language Film, they will also be vying for Best Director, Best Set Design, Best Art Direction, and Best Actress for lead Ivana Baquero.
