UNEARTHED BRITISH DVDs
DVD company Unearthed Films, which has heretofore specialized in Asian fare like the GUINEA PIG movies and JUNK (debuting April 29; see article in Fango #222, now on sale), has just acquired a pair of British horror titles for U.S. disc release. The first, REVENGE OF BILLY THE KID, is an outrageous shocker/comedy about a farmer who, ahem, has a goat, and the half-human monstrosity that results. Im really happy to get it, because its like Monty Python meets THE EVIL DEAD, says Uneartheds Steve Biro of BILLY, which was examined back in Fango #175. The supplements for that disc are tentative; were talking to the filmmakers about that now. Im finding out through handling these titles just how hard it is to get these extras together!
As for his second UK pickup, the less well-known BOY MEETS GIRL: Its about a man who meets a girl in a bar, Biro describes. The girl picks him up and they go home, they begin to watch some adult movies and he quickly passes out from a mickey in his drink. He wakes up strapped to a dentist chair, and the woman begins to mess with him psychologically and physically in a grueling showcase of horror. The director, Ray Brady, made it to challenge the censor board in the United Kingdomto show that a horror film should be able to be seen in its entirety due to the violence, because thats part of the story. The DVD will have a directors commentary, a slide show, the script will be on there for PC users and there will be rehearsal-to-scene comparisons. Biro estimates that both discs will hit shelves in late 2003.
