The nominees for the 79th annual Academy Awards were announced this morning, and Guillermo del Toro’s PAN’S LABYRINTH racked up six nods (tied for third place with THE QUEEN for most total nominations), including one for Best Foreign Language Film. Del Toro himself is up for Best Screenplay, and the dark fantasy (now a box-office hit in the U.S.) is also in contention for Art Direction, Cinematography, Makeup and Original Score. The Oscar ceremony will take place Sunday, February 25 at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.
