The horror anthology feature TRAPPED ASHES has been picked up for distribution via Lionsgate. Fango was tipped off recently about the acquisition, which will place this tetralogy of terror in the release stable for later this year—whether it’s a theatrical or direct-to-DVD destination is unknown at this time. ASHES has drawn parallels to Amicus-produced anthologies like THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD and ASYLUM; this writer caught up to a screening at the AFM and thinks that’s a fair comparison.
Written and produced by Dennis Bartok, and helmed by directors Joe Dante, Ken Russell, Monte Hellman and John Gaeta, ASHES has been moving along the festival circuit since its completion last year. John Saxon, Henry Gibson, Rachel Veltri and Amelia Cooke are just some of the actors who make up the ensemble cast thrust through surreal and supernatural predicaments for faint-inducing results.
