A leading lady and a director have a date for Screen Gems’ PROM NIGHT redux. According to Variety, JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE’s Brittany Snow is starring in the role previously filled by Jamie Lee Curtis in the 1980 original. Nelson McCormick, meanwhile, will be at the helm; he comes from a long history of dramatic television work such as CSI, ALIAS, NIP/TUCK (Snow is also an alum of this FX series) and ER. Cooking in the remake oven for a few years now, PROM NIGHT has seen writers come and go (THE GRUDGE’s Stephen Susco and THE GRAVEDANCERS’ Brad Keene and Chris Skinner were among them), and now Sony’s genre-friendly division is making arrangements to have NIGHT debut February 1, 2008—the now-coveted Super Bowl weekend slot where horror has proved to be quite profitable for the company.
