Jean Claude Van Damme’s going to branch out by starring in his first supernatural thriller.
Called “Holy Brood”, and based on a script by Sheldon Lettich, the movie “deals with the occult and the supernatural, and there’s certainly some stuff in it that’s designed to be creepy and/or scary. But it’s not a horror movie per se, like — for example — “Evil Dead” or “Hostel” or “Halloween” or “Saw.” The short description I’ve given is “The Exorcist meets the X-Files.” What’s different is that it’ll have Van Damme instead of Father Karras, or Scully & Mulder”, the writer tells fans on the VanDammeFan.com site.
Van Damme will first star in the film “Pride” (a.k.a “The Smashing Machine”) before starting production on “Brood” next year.
In addition to “Brood”, the muscles from Brussels is also said to be circling another sci-fi pic.
