Fango got word that BELL WITCH: THE MOVIE, one of two simultaneously lensed independent features based on the real-life Tennessee haunting, will hit DVD September 1 via Big River Pictures and Cinemarr Entertainment. This release, in both standard and hi-def editions, will be preceded by exclusive early HD-DVD and Blu-ray availability earlier in the summer. According to director S. Shane Marr, “We shot BELL WITCH in 24p 1080 HD back in 2002, but we decided to hold the film until it could be released in HD so that people could see it as it was meant to be viewed.”
BELL WITCH: THE MOVIE, which features FRIDAY THE 13TH’s Betsy Palmer providing the title character’s spooky voice, will be on sale at Amazon.com and via the project’s official website as well as at rental stores, and will also be available for Unbox downloading for TiVo. It should make for interesting comparison with its previously released indie rival THE BELL WITCH HAUNTING and the theatrical release AN AMERICAN HAUNTING, which covered the same territory.
